Food is extremely necessary for the healthy growth of human beings. The food we eat must be full of nutrients. A nutritious diet may contain Proteins, Fats, Carbohydrates, Minerals, and Vitamins in required quantities. Proteins help for growth and repairing the body tissues. It makes our muscles strong.
There are Proteins in cereals, pulses, milk and milk products, eggs, fish, meat, and nuts. Carbohydrates give us energy for brain power and muscle powder. It can be found in rice, maize, wheat, potatoes, and yams and in all starchy and sugary food.
Fats also provide us energy. They are a rich source of energy. We need only a small amount of it. It is found in cooking oils, meat and meat products, lard, butter, ghee. Some milk products and margarine.
Minerals are helpful in tiny amounts to keep our bodies healthy. Salt is a mineral and we need it for a healthy body. But too much salt is very unhealthy. Minerals are found in fish, eggs, pulses, and dark green leafy vegetables.
We need vitamins for healthy teeth and bones. We need it in small amounts to keep our bodies healthy. We find vitamins in dairy products, liver, fatty fish, green leafy vegetables, yellow and red fruits and vegetables.
Apart from all the nutritious food, we take our body needs exercise to digest the food and give the necessary strength and energy. A healthy body can make our lives happier.
